Lucille J. Schaus (nee Fleming), 96, of West Bend, passed away Saturday March 24, 2012 at Cedar Bay West at Cedar Community.
Lucille was born on Dec. 6, 1915 in Milwaukee to Joseph and Grace (nee Bigsby) Fleming. She graduated from Milwaukee North Division High School. After her schooling, Lucille worked at Hanson Glove Co. and several other companies before she married Norman Schaus on May 23, 1941 in Missouri. The couple moved to California for a time before Norman entered World War II, then Lucille returned to Milwaukee and continued working until Norman returned. They began their family in Milwaukee and later moved to Cedarburg in 1975 after Norman retired. Lucille loved swimming, gardening, crafts, volunteering at the Ozaukee Co. Humane Society and at Cedar Ridge Community and playing cards. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by her children Joan (Roger) Menzia of Grafton and Noreen (Steve) Olshefski of Richfield; grandchildren William (Jennifer) Menzia, Carolyn Knoppa, Thomas (Ann) Menzia; great-grandchildren Dominic, Carina and Annamaria Menzia, other relatives and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, brothers Morse and Frank Fleming, and sisters-in-law Florence and Marion Fleming.
Funeral services for Lucille will be held 7 p.m. Thursday March 29, 2012 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend). Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of service.
Interment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Memorials to Bethesda Lutheran Community or the Wisconsin Humane Society are appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Cedar Community and the doctors and staff at Froedtert Cancer Clinic for all their care and comfort they provided to Lucille.
