Noel H. Snyder, 83|
Noel H. Snyder, 83, went to be with his family on Saturday, April 28, 2012. He was born on June 16, 1928, in Black River Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Bertha (nee Leach) Snyder, his brother Frank, and his sisters Phyllis, Dorothy, Beverly and Katie.
Noel was united in marriage with Violet Chaulklin on Dec. 13, 1948. He served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Guam and Korea.
Following his discharge he was employed at American Motors, retiring after 30 years. If he wasn’t in the garage tinkering on someone’s two- or four-wheel vehicle, he was on the road himself riding his bikes, snowmobiles, mini-bikes, go-carts or anything on wheels. He owned Noel’s Bar and Grill for five years on Main Street in West Bend. His first hobby was dirt track riding and hill climbing on Harleys, then racing Fox go-carts. He was an avid pool player and d__n good.
Noel spent the past two years at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa.
He is survived by Violet Snyder of West Bend, and his children Michael Snyder of West Bend, Mary Schiller of West Bend and Patricia (David) Willsher of Marble Road, Iowa. He is further survived by his 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, a special friend Eileen Parker, and many family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 4-5:45 p.m.
