Russell W. Peck, 63

Russell W. Peck, 63, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Froedtert Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1948, to Russell and Elizabeth (nee Roth). He married Sherry (nee Knudsen) on June 3, 1989.

Russ was a proud Marine veteran who served in Vietnam. He served as past department adjutant, and commander of the Wisconsin American Legion and American Legion Post 1 of Germantown. He was also a member of the VFW Post 9202 of Germantown, the Marine Corps League and 40 et 8. He worked tirelessly in support of our veterans, most recently as the director of the Bureau of Claims at the Wisconsin Department of VA at the Milwaukee Regional Office. He was an active member of the Board of Directors for Exodus House in Kewaskum.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; cherished daughter, Bonni; mother, Elizabeth Peck; sister, Kathryn Peck; mother-in-law, Phillis Knudsen; sistersin-law, Denise (Randy) Schwager, Valerie (Mitchell) Rhodes, Lisa Knudsen-Smith, and Aimee (Ken) Rogers; grandaunt, Anna Picard; uncle, Kenneth (Rita) Roth; aunt, Bonnie Raffels; cousins, Ervin M. (Marianne) Kanieski, Kenneth Roth Jr., Merry Beth (Randy) Preisler, and Andrew (Martha) Roth. He is further survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Peck Sr., and father-in-law, Allan Knudsen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend (1420 W. Paradise Drive). The visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 5, from 1-2:30 p.m. with an American Legion walk-through taking place promptly at 2:30 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin VA Cemetery in Union Grove at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family and they will donate to a charity of their choice.

The family would like to say a special “thank you” to all the staff in the Neuro-ICU at Froedtert Memorial Hospital.
