Margaret M. “Marge” Blanke, 84, of Plymouth, Passed away peacefully Sunday evening, May 6, 2012. at her daughter’s residence.
Marge was born on Feb. 14, 1928, in Rosendale, a daughter of the late Elmer and Evaline Schmidt Nigh.
She attended Kewaskum grade schools and graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1946. Marge worked at B.C. Ziegler in West Bend for several years. On April 17, 1948, she married Willard W. Blanke at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. The couple has lived in Sheboygan, the Town of Plymouth and in Plymouth since 1952. After her marriage, she worked with her husband in the family business, Blanke & Nigh Roofing and Siding Company.
Her husband preceded her in death on May 19, 2006.
Marge was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth and belonged to the Christian Women Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a volunteer for several years at St. Vincent De Paul Society in Plymouth. She enjoyed playing cards (especially Canasta), cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include: Four children: Dan (Kathy) Blanke of Omaha, Nebr., Mary (Ken) Behr of South Bend, Ind., Rita (Joel) Pierce of Cypress, Calif., and
Sharon (Michael) Chappy of Plymouth; six grandchildren: Alicia (Brian) Domack of Milwaukee, Aaron Blanke of San Jose, Calif., Katherine Behr (fiancé: Paul Davis) of Madison, Brandon Pierce of Cypress, Calif., Abby Riese of Madison, and Adam Riese of Stevens Point; two step-grandchildren: Keith (Maria) Behr of South Bend, Ind., Jennifer (Eric) Alden of Long Beach, Calif.; one great-grandchild: Adynn; and three step-great-grandchildren: Davide, Matthew, and Hayley; seven brothers and sisters: Marian (Jerry) Darmody of Allenton, Agnes Bird of West Bend, Leo (Esther) Nigh of Plymouth, Vincent (Elvira) Nigh of Kewaskum,
Jerry (Beverly) Nigh of Campbellsport, David (Barbara) Nigh of St. Cloud, Fla., and Barb (Dale) Timmler of West Bend; one brother-in-law: Hubert (Evelyn) Blanke of Plymouth; and three sisters-in-law: LaVerne Czarniak of Milwaukee, Anna Nigh of Campbellsport and Laura Nigh of West Bend. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers: Gregor, Alban and Lawrence Nigh; one infant sister; and two brothers-in-law: Virgil Bird and Ervin (Valeria) Blankel and one sister-in-law: Dorothy Nigh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 11, at noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Marge’s name.
