Ilene Jean Corner, 75|
Former Cedarburg resident Ilene Jean Corner, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Horizon Hospice at Columbia St.
Mary’s Ozaukee, Mequon.
Mrs. Corner had been living in Shell Knob, Mo., since retiring from the Cedarburg School District in 1994.
She was born in Omaha, Neb., on Aug. 20, 1936, the daughter of Paul and Jean Hainowski.
On May 4, 1956, she married Dean Corner in Omaha.
The family moved to the Cedarburg area in 1966, and she worked as a secretary at Webster Transitional School. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, singing in the church choir. She enjoyed camping in the summers, cooking and traveling.
In her retirement, Mrs. Corner loved quilting, swimming and hosting family and friends at their home on Table rock Lake in Shell Knob.
Mrs. Corner is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dean of Shell Knob; a brother, Paul (Carol) Hainowski of Omaha; children, Deni (Dan) Sciano of San Antonio, Texas, Jeff (Lisa) Corner of Grafton, Bret (Brenda) Corner of Grafton and Paul (Darcie) Corner of San Antonio; along with 10 grandchildren.
A special thank you to all the family and friends who came to visit Ilene in the hospice unit. The flowers and prayers were deeply appreciated.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 6 p.m. at Cedar Creek Community Church, 1414 First Ave., Grafton. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
