Helen Irene Gundrum, 82

Helen Irene Gundrum (nee Horst), 82, of Slinger passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at her residence.

Helen was born March 15, 1930, at the family homestead in Rubicon to Conrad and Anna (Klink) Horst. She was united in marriage to Bernard H. Gundrum on April 23, 1949, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. They lived in Rubicon for 22 years and then moved to a farm on Resthaven Road and resided there for 22 years.

Helen graduated in 1947 from Hartford High School. She worked at the West Bend Company and at Briggs and Stratton. Helen also owned and operated The Tropical Fish, Pet and Supply Store, she then worked at WTKM radio station for 25 years.

She also volunteered at the Hartford Hospital and the Hartford Auto Museum and she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Helen loved crocheting, gardening, sewing, baking, traveling and spending time with her family. She was the beloved and devoted mother of nine children.

Helen is survived by her children Bernard L. (Gail) Gundrum of Hartford, Jeffrey (Jajan) Gundrum of the Philippines, Kathleen (Patrick) Johnston of Onalaska, Fay (Mike) Selsing of Hartland, Darlene (Mark) Adelmeyer of Lomira, Gail (Mark) Clark of Theresa, Marlene (Ted) Corey of Allenton, Jean (Frank) Csizmadia of Hartford; daughter-in-law Debby (Steve) Porn of Bruce; 23 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother William (Laverne) Horst of Rubicon; sister Mary Ziegelbauer of Slinger; and her brother-inlaw Ronald Weber of Hartford. She is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, especially Myrtle Gundrum and Dennis Gundrum.

Helen was preceded in death by parents, husband Bernard, son Gary, infant daughter Mary Jo, grandson Jonathan Gundrum, sister Rose Weber and her brother-in-law Lambert Ziegelbauer.

Mass of Christian burial for Helen will be held Monday May 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford, with Fr. David LaPlante officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.

Interment at St. John Cemetery in Rubicon.
