Ralph G. Hegy

Ralph G. Hegy, 93, of Hartford, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.

He was born March 29, 1919, in Hartford to Peter and Anna (Reitzner) Hegy.

Ralph was united in marriage to Ethel A. Radloff on July 25, 1942, in Watertown.

Ralph was a U.S. Army Veteran in World War II serving in Italy.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, polka dancing and gardening. Ralph loved flying planes and restoring them. He was a member of the Hartford Garden Club for five years where he volunteered to water the plants in downtown Hartford. He also was a volunteer at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum.

Ralph is survived by his five children, Ronald (Ann) Hegy of Hartford, Tom Hegy of Rubicon, Dennis (Lynnell) Hegy, Diane Hegy and Meg La Cross all of Hartford; nine grandchildren Tim (Gina) Hegy, Krista (David) Reif, Seth (Allysa) Hegy, Peter Hegy (Sara Bader), Scott Hegy (fiancée Michele Wilkes), Andrew La Cross (Kristen Heesen), Adam, Alissa and Luke La Cross; great-grandchildren Morgan and Noelle Hegy, Hailey and Lauren Reif, Andrew Hegy; and his sister Helen Buchanan of Arizona. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel, sons Keith and Lawrence, brothers Ray and Clarence, sisters Elizabeth Vogelsang, Margaret (Sister Maureen), and infant sister Dorothy Hegy.

A funeral service for Ralph will be held Monday, May 14, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford with the Rev. David LaPlante officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends Monday at the funeral home only from 4-7 p.m.

Interment at St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, Hartford, on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Aurora Visiting Nurses Association, Cedar Community, Hartford Garden Club or the Wisconsin Automotive Museum are appreciated.
