Walter F. Peters, 82, of West Bend died on Tuesday, May 14, 2012, at the Aurora Medical Center – Washington County.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in the town of Polk to the late Frank and Clara (nee Ackerman) Peters. At the age of 17, Walter started working at the West Bend Company.
On Oct. 28, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Weiss at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence. He then enlisted in the United States Army. Following his discharge, he returned to West Bend and continued working at the West Bend Company. After more than 40 years of employment, he retired in 1992.
He enjoyed spending time gardening, tending to his flowers and bird watching.
He was a member of the 25 Year Club at the West Bend Company and Holy Angels Parish.
Survivors include his wife Mary; one daughter Linda (Tom) Peter of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; one sister Sally Zingsheim of West Bend; seven sisters-in-law Mabel Peters of West Bend, Shirley Peters of West Bend, Sr. Dorothy Weiss of Campbellsport, Helen Mueller of West Bend, Kathy Weiss of Allenton, Dorothy Weiss of Hartford and Gloria Weiss of Campbellsport; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Christine and six brothers and sisters Alphons, Hillard, Marvin, Sylvester, Dolores Wenninger, and Evelyn Zingsheim.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 17, at 6 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church only on Thursday from 4-5:45 p.m.
