Mildred A. Jones, 98|
Mildred A. Jones, 98, formerly of Weirton, W.Va., died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Lasata Senior Living Campus in Cedarburg, where she had resided the past few years.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1913, the daughter of Andrew J. and Anna M. Volen Barbara, in Connellsville, Pa. On June 2, 1933, she married Ernest Jones of Gloucester, England, in Wellsburg, W.Va., He preceded her in death on March 3, 1981.
In 1999, after living in Weirton for many years, she moved to Wisconsin to be near her son. She had been a resident of Port Washington’s Harbor Campus during her early years in Wisconsin. While living in Weirton, she was very active with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stuebenville, Ohio, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered at the Wierton General Hospital for many years. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of bowling well into her 80s.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Dolores) Jones of Mequon; grandsons, Brian Jones of Littleton, Colo., and Kevin (Mary) Jones of Mequon; her brother, Thomas (Rose) Barbara of Weirton, W.Va.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Louise Heming, Victoria Barbara, Viola Bortz and Helen Bonar; and her brother, John Barbara.
Graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Wierton, W.Va., at a later date. Memorials to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 415 Adams St., Steubenville, Ohio 43952 are appreciated.
