Dr. Edgar Gustav Wirth Jr. went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; five children, Pamela (Rev. Randolf) Frank, Steven (Victoria) Wirth, Dr. Scott Wirth, Susan (Stephen) Leonardelli and Craig Wirth; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1923, and grew up in Cedarburg and graduated from Cedarburg High School and the Marquette University School of Dentistry. He served his country in World War II as a dentist in the U.S. Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. Dr. Wirth had a dental practice in Grafton for 38 years.
After his retirement, his son, Dr. Scott Wirth, continued the practice. Dr. Wirth was on the board of directors of the Cedarburg State Bank. In his retirement years he spent his winters at his home in Naples, Fla., and his summers at his lake home in Upper Michigan.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the wonderful caring staff of Nook’s Nanny’s and Heartland Hospice and sincere gratitude to Debra, Kathy and Eileen, who were especially kind, compassionate and supportive.
Private services with military honors will be held.
