Lewis E. Gatzke, 75

Lewis E. Gatzke, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

He was born on July 25, 1936 to Walter and Lorinda (nee Remmel) Gatzke.

After school, he worked at Regal Ware until serving in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. Upon his return, he married Evelyn (nee Lavrenz) on May 28, 1960. Lewis finished his career as an Operations Manager at Regal Ware.

He enjoyed watching and playing sports like golf, bowling, darts, horseshoes, and ping pong. He also enjoyed playing cards, going fishing, and gambling. Above all, he loved spending time with family and especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gatzke; children, Pamela Sengpiel of Kewaskum, Penny (Rodney) Kutz of Campbellsport, Peggy (Scott) Spangenberg of Random Lake, Lisa (Dan) Kunath of Hartford; eight grandchildren, Danielle (Mark) Christian, Derik (Alaina) Gatzke, Jessica (Aaron) Miller, Bryant Sengpiel, Brandon Baumhardt, Melanie Zellner, Samantha Maki, Russ Maki III; great-grandchildren, Mayson Larson and Leila Baumhardt; great-great-grandchildren, Caden and Hailey Christian; brothers, Lloyd (Joyce) Gatzke, and Walter Gatzke Jr.; and in-laws, Joyce (James) Clark, Raymond (friend Kathy) Lavrenz, Bernice (Kenneth) Bastian, Clayton (Sandy) Lavrenz, Darwin (Donna) Lavrenz, Spencer Lavrenz, and Beatrice Wendtz. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-inlaw, Gertrude and Gustav Lavrenz; and brothers-inlaw, Donald (Viola), Delbert and Kenneth Lavrenz.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 4 p.m. at Peace UCC (343 First St., Kewaskum, WI 53040) with Rev. Eric Kirkegaard presiding. The visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, June 3 from 1-3:45 p.m. Interment will take place at Auburn Cemetery (County Road Y, 1 mile east of Campbellsport) on Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace UCC.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Froedtert Hospital, all the doctors and nurses who took care of our father, and Pastor Eric for his prayers and devotion to the family.
