Glenn
A. Bittermann, 66, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012,
at Season’s Hospice at Merrill Hills Manor in Waukesha after a long
battle with cancer.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1946 in Parkston, S.D. to the late Albert and
Lenora (nee Schnabel) Bittermann. He attended Klein Country Grade School
and graduated from Delmont, S.D. High School in 1964. Glenn was united
in marriage to Julie Fuerniss on Nov. 4, 1967, in Delmont, S.D., and
shortly after their marriage the couple moved to West Bend.
Glenn was employed at the West Bend Company for 33 years, retiring in
2000. He served in the National Guard and also drove cars for the Bob
Fish Auto Dealership for many years. Glenn enjoyed woodworking,
carpentry and working on his Mustangs.
Those Glenn leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife
of 45 years, Julie; three children, Russell (Haley) Bittermann of New
Orleans, La., Troy (Robin) Bittermann of Muskego, and Stacy (Boomer)
Danford of New Orleans; four grandchildren, Travis, Alex, Mitchell, and
Auden, with two more blessings on the way; a sister, LaVonne (Melvin)
Konrad of Mitchel, S.D.; his mother-in-law, Helene Fuerniss of Delmont,
S.D.; two sisters-inlaw, Cheryl (Rich) Lockwood of Sallisaw, Okla., and
Susan (Tim) Thuringer of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers-inlaw, Charner
(Rebecca) Fuerniss of Byhalia, Miss., and Charles (Elaine) Fuerniss of
Paris, Ky.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Darlene Roth, his
father-in-law, Arnold Fuerniss, and a brother-in-law, Terry Fuerniss.
The funeral service in remembrance of Glenn will be held on Saturday,
Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, 462 Meadowbrook Drive,
West Bend. The Rev. Joseph Fisher and the Rev. Christopher Raffa will
officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park,
West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m.
until the time of service.
