Ernest L. Hippe, 79

Ernest L. Hippe, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Provena-St. Joseph Medical Center in Elgin, Ill., following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Ernie was born on Dec. 11, 1932, in Starbuck, Minn., to Oscar and Josephine (nee Pederson) Hippe. He spent his entire childhood in Starbuck and upon graduation from high school he enlisted for service in the Army. Following his discharge he went on to attend St. Olaf College in Minnesota. In 1957 he joined the West Bend Company, where he met his wife, Delores and they married on Sept. 27, 1958. After 39 years of service to the company, Ernie retired from his position as the international sales manager of the Multi-Core Division.

His career brought many opportunities for he and Delores to enjoy travel throughout the world, a passion they shared throughout his lifetime. Following retirement they moved to Lake in the Hills, Ill., and enjoyed their time playing golf, continuing to travel and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Delores (nee Schrank); daughters Shelley (Randy) Kolls, Alison (Brian) Santoro, and Stacey Carlson; grandchildren Katie and Karli Kolls, Sean and Colin Santoro, and Stephanie Carlson; as well as his dog, Buttons.

A private funeral service was held on Friday, Nov. 2, in Cary, Ill., followed by burial at the West Bend Cemetery.
