Anna Marie Nickel,
Anna Marie “Mary Ann” Nickel, nee Fahney, 83, of West Bend, formerly of Saukville, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Samaritan Health Center. She was born on Feb. 26, 1929, in the town of Auburn to the late Carl and Josephine (nee Weitzer) Fahney. Anna grew up in Newburg. As a young adult, she worked at Amity Leather Products Company and Enger Cress Company.
Following her marriage to Joseph S. Nickel on April 25, 1953, the couple settled on a dairy farm in the town of Saukville.
Throughout her life, Anna loved to travel. Together with her husband, they explored many areas of the United States. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards and bingo, and cooking and baking.
She was a member of the Christian Women’s Confraternity at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann (William) Depies and Carol (Doug) Wisby, both of West Bend; four grandchildren, Steve (Lisa) Depies, Angela Depies (fiancée Greg Daru), Matthew Wisby and Michelle Wisby; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph on March 4, 2003.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Friday from 4-7 p.m. There will be a rosary service at 7 p.m. Friday.
The family has requested memorials to the Samaritan Health Center’s Activity Fund or Midwest Kidney Care.
