Marlay
O. Zimmerman, nee Schacht, 94, of Brookfield, formerly of West Bend,
died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Care-Age of Brookfield with her
daughter by her side. She was born on June 10, 1918, in the town of
Farmington to the late Arthur and Susan (nee Salter) Schacht.
While attending high school, the family moved to West Bend. After
graduating from West Bend High School, she became employed at the West
Bend Company. She later became a store demonstrator with West Bend
Bottling Company.
On June 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to Oscar R. Zimmerman at
the First Methodist Church in West Bend. Oscar predeceased Dec. 3, 1994.
For 13 years, Marlay resided at Cedar Ridge. In the fall of 2010, she
moved to Brookfield to be closer to her family.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter Sandra (James) Turczyn of
Waukesha; granddaughter Melissa Turczyn of Madison; and other relatives
and friends.
A celebration of Marlay’s life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at
3 p.m. at the Grand Hall on the second floor of Cedar Ridge. The family
will greet relatives and friends at the Grand Hall on Sunday from 1-2:45
p.m. Private inurnment will be in Washington County Memorial Park.
The family has requested memorials to the Washington County Humane
Society or to the Cedar Community Foundation for the benefit of Cedar
Ridge.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of
Care-Age South for their loving kindness shown to Marlay for the year
and a half she resided there. Also, thank you to Allay Home and Hospice
staff.
