Roman Breit Sr., 87|
Andrew Roman Breit Sr. of Kewaskum passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the age of 87 years. He was born on Nov. 30, 1924 in the Nabob area to the late Peter P. and Katherine M. (nee Heckman) Breit.
On Oct. 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Kertscher at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Dorothy predeceased Jan. 16, 2007.
Andrew lived in West Bend, and he and his wife started their family in 1951. In 1963, he purchased a farm near St. Michaelís, where he farmed for 30 years.
In addition to the love he had for his family, he thoroughly enjoyed playing sheepshead with his cousinís card club and with family. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, feeding the birds, going up north, picking morel mushrooms and gathering hickory nuts. His other hobbies included baking, gardening, farming and collecting coins.
He had a very big heart and strong will. He treated his family equally.
For a brief time, he worked at Kieckhafer Manufacturing in Cedarburg. He then became employed at the Gehl Company before settling in at Snider Mold in Mequon, from where he retired. He later worked part-time at Technology Plus and Tomlinson Industries.
He was a member of the former St. Matthias Catholic Church in the town of Auburn and Holy Trinity Parish in Kewaskum, a past member of the St. Joseph Society at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend, and the West Bend Lodge #1398 Loyal Order Of Moose.
Survivors include his eight children: Patty (Roger) Brace of Kewaskum, Robert (Mary) of Campbellsport, Anna (Jerome) Dahm of West Bend, Andrew, Jr. (Alice) of Random Lake, Ceilie (Jeff) Waala of Kewaskum, Randy (Vicki) of Campbellspor t, Sheila Dachs (friend Tony) of West Bend, Brenda (fiance Steven) of Muskego; 13 grandchildren Steven (friend Erin), Jamie (Missi) Dahm, Jeremy (Jacki) Dahm , Jeffery (Emily) Waala, Kenny (Kathy), Nicole Waala, Aaron, Jesse (friend Kristine), Nick, Shawn, CJ Dachs (friend Abby), Adam, Cari Jo Dachs; four great-grandchildren Kiersten Dahm, Dakota Waala-Klumpp, Leah Dahm, Lillian Waala and a future great-grandchild due June, 2013; one sister-in-law Edna Breit of Lomria; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers John (Agatha), Roman (Irene) and Arthur, 2 sisters Catherine (Bernard) Mueller and Virginia Schmidt and 1 brother-inlaw Raymond Schmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthias Chapel, N1044 Highway S, Campbellsport (town of Auburn) with Fr. Elroy Pesch presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Monday from 4 p.m. until a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and also Tuesday at the chapel only from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Masses or memorials appreciated.
