Gertrude Drinkwine died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg.
Gert was born in Govan, Saskatchewan, Canada, on July 23, 1917. After her graduation from Regina Grey Nunís Hospital, she worked as a registered nurse for 58 years. This included serving at the Indian Reservation in New Mexico and Arizona; Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee; and Adams Memorial Hospital in Friendship.
Gert is survived by her son, John (Barbara) Arity of Cedarburg; many loyal friends; and other family.
Much thanks to the entire staff at Lasata Care Center for their great care during her stay.
Services and burial will be held at a later date in Dellwood.
Gert never lost her great Irish sense of humor.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond that glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain!
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling fright.
I am the soft-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am nor here; I did not die.
