Wilfred A. Stephans, 84


Wilfred “Bill” A. Stephans, 84, of Hartford, was born to eternal life on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born Oct. 20, 1928 to Henry and Martha (nee Kiley) Stephan, in Hartford. He was united in marriage to Mary K. Hauser in Evergreen, Colo. on Aug. 4, 1951. They were married for over 61 years before Mary was born to eternal life on Oct. 22, 2012.

Bill worked for the city of Hartford for 36 years. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and watching their sports teams. Bill will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for being a great father and grandfather.

Bill is survived by his children, Monica Bartley of Hartford, Martha (Michael) Sheridan of Slinger, Mary Kluck, Paul (Janel) Stephans, Francie (Jay) Robbe, and John (Sheila) Stephans, all of Hartford; grandchildren, Joe (Kim) Bartley, Theresa (Ian) Virnig, Matt Bartley, Sara (Kyle) Bille, Joe Sheridan, Ben Kluck, Jim (Sara) Kluck, Tom Kluck, Jordan, Aaron, Maria, Monica and Julia Stephans, Luke, Ann, Clare and Sarah Robbe, Brandon Rohloff, and Hannah Stephans; his great grandchildren, Kate Bartley, Ava and Ryan Bille; and his siblings, Peg Dehne of Oshkosh, Don (Maggie) Stevens of Hubertus and Bob (Suzanne) Stephens of Waukesha. Bill is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, infant twin sons, Mark and Michael Stephans, brother Harold Stephan, and his sonin- law Ken Kluck.

Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be held on Monday, Dec.3, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, at Holy Hill, 1525 Carmel Road, Hubertus, with the Rev. Fred Alexander officiating.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

Interment at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians at Holy Hill, Kathy Hospice, St. Mary of the Hill or the Hartford Hawks baseball team are appreciated.
