Joyce was born in Cedarburg on May 31, 1931, the
daughter of Otto Ladwig and Hilda (nee Barelmann) Ladwig.
She graduated from Cedarburg High School and later
married Elmer Kison at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Cedarburg in 1949. Their marriage was blessed with four
children.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Cedarburg, as well
as a longtime member at First Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Elmer and Joyce owned and operated Gingerbread Carpentry
for over 20 years, working side by side in furniture
reproduction and folk art. She enjoyed attending the
craft shows where they sold their furniture, as well as
gardening, and traveling.
Joyce is survived by her children, Chery (Kenny)
Miller, Bonnie
(Gary) Johnson, and Jo’Ann (Donald) Libecap;
grandchildren, Shawn (Holly) Miller, Erin (friend Daniel
Schumann) Miller, and Johanna (Joseph) Kujawski;
great-grandchildren, Lily Miller, Evelynn Kujawski, and
Daphne Kujawski; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Ladwig,
Christine Wittenberg, Viola Kison and Lorain Kison. She
is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her
beloved husband, Elmer Kison; infant son, Dale Kison;
and brothers, Wilmer and Elmer Ladwig and John
Wittenberg.
