Mae Guse, 96


Mae Guse (nee Koll), 96, of West Bend died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 23, 1916, in Theresa to the late Leo and Anna (nee Meixensperger) Koll and married Clarence Guse on April 29, 1939, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Clarence preceded her in death after 66 years of marriage on Oct. 27, 2005.

After their marriage, which was a double wedding with her twin sister, they settled in Kekoske. Two years later they moved to West Bend where she was employed as a clerk at Penny’s, Ley’s and Bloedorns stores. In 1957 they moved to Florida, returning to West Bend in 1959. In 2004 they moved to Cedar Ridge and since 2010 she has resided at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mae enjoyed her volunteer work for the Samaritan Health Center and as a driver for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Missions Circle No. 41 at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Mae is survived by her three children: Carol (Kenneth) Leitheiser of Campbellsport, Ronald (Jan) Guse of West Bend, and Daniel (Lois) Guse of West Bend; nine grandchildren: Scott (Tisha) Leitheiser, Ric (Amy) Leitheiser, Tim (Sandy) Leitheiser, Brian (Becky) Leitheiser, Maureen (Mark) Mommaerts, Nicole (Dan) Heisdorf, Christopher (Carrie) Guse, Todd (Kara) Guse, and Troy (Roz) Guse; and 23 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three brothers-in-law: Ervin Guse of Mayville, Tony Sorgent of Mayville and Robert Cravillian of Appleton, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Anna Koll, her husband Clarence, her great-grandson David Leitheiser, five sisters and five brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, at the church only from 9-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Holy Angels School Trust Fund are appreciated.
