John G. Dickmann, 51

John G. Dickmann, 51, formerly of West Bend, passed away at his home in Bremerton, Wash., on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1960, in West Bend to Walter “Bud” and Betty (nee Lochen) Dickmann.

He was a 1979 graduate of West Bend East High School and continued his education at Moraine Park Technical College until enlisting in the United States Navy in 1981. He was stationed in Jacksonville, Fla. and served on the USS Eisenhower until his honorable discharge in 1986. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jeanne Heiting, on July 23, 1984. After living several years in Las Cruces, N.M., where he was a dispatcher for the Las Cruces Police Department, they moved to Bremerton, Wash.. There, John worked as a dispatcher for Kitsap County Cencom and later for the Department of Defense Regional Dispatch Center at the Bangor Naval Submarine Base until the time of his retirement in 2010.

John enjoyed riding his Harley, watching the Green Bay Packers and movies, reading newspapers and good books, cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles, and politics, but most of all, relaxing and spending time with his wife and dogs in their park-like backyard. 

John is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Sarah Dickmann of Seattle; his mother Betty Dickmann of West Bend; his sister, Diane (Ken) Troedel of Waupaca; his parents-inlaw, Raymond and Mary Heiting of Plymouth; sisters-in-law, Laurie Schall of Sauk City and Beth (Rick) Olsen of Glen Beulah; brother-in-law, Steve (Connie) Heiting of Minocqua; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as his beloved German shepherds, Elsa, Reagan and Buffy.

Predeceasing John was his father, Walter F. “Bud” Dickmann, his paternal grandparents Meta and Theodore Dickmann, and his maternal grandparents Ollie and Stella Lochen.

A private burial will be held in Bremerton, Wash.
