Marian G. Williams, 82

Marian G. Williams (nee Schuetz), 82, of Cedarburg, died as she lived, quietly with dignity, surrounded by her children, on Oct. 14, 2012, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, after battling lung cancer for the last 4 1/2 years.

Marian was born in Milwaukee on July 3, 1930, the daughter of Ewald and Esther (nee Gilleran) Schuetz.

The family moved to Cedarburg in 1964, where she lived in the same house on Sheboygan Road until her death. She was a staunch liberal in a sea of conservatism and president of the League of Women Voters.

She loved children and was a den mother in Cub Scouts for many years.

She valued education highly and obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1983 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee after raising her family.

She was a published poet, avid genealogist and family historian, traveled to several continents and throughout the U.S.

She will be missed. But she would not want to be mourned excessively – just remembered warmly. As she said: Loving is letting go.

Marian is survived by her children, Dean (Kate Saunders), Michael (Carolyn), Gayle, Gary, Bruce (Cathy Blye) and Robert (Alice Ricketts); grandchildren, Amy, Erik, Allison, Ashley, Adam and Julia; and one brother, Raymond Gilleran.

Marian was preceded in death by one son, John Williams Jr.; one sister, Evelyn Brusturis; and one brother, Ewald Schuetz Jr.

A funeral service was held at Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory in Cedarburg on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 5 p.m. Interment was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
