Donald H. Butzke, 80
Donald H. Butzke, 80, of Jackson passed
away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at the Health Care Center of Cedar
Community. He was born on March 23, 1932 in the town of Jackson to the
late Erhard and Erna (nee Koepke) Butzke.
In 1951, Don entered the United States Army, serving during the Korean
Conflict. He later became employed as a heavy-equipment operator in the
road construction business.
He was a member of Local No. 139 Operating Engineers and the S/Sgt.
Henry F. Gumm Post No. 483 American Legion in Jackson.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Butzke (Bob Seebantz), Kelly
Tesch and Linda (Mike) Bath; six grandchildren, Robin and Benjamin, Adam
(Briana) and Hayley, and Kristy and Shaun (Adriana); four
great-grandchildren , Angel, Christian, Zoey and Drake; one sister,
Yvonne (Fred) Nunez; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister,
Beverly (Kenneth) Herman, one brother, James (Marlene) and 1
sister-in-law, Betty (Howard) Hartwig.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at David’s
Star Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2740 David’s Star Drive, Jackson, with
burial at 11 a.m. in the church cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be at the church only on Friday from 4-6:45 p.m., with
an American Legion walkthrough service at 6:30 p.m.
Don’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff
on the Countryside wing at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community for
their outpouring of love and support for Don and his family.
