Lori Jan Steffen, 44

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 W. Chapel Hill Road, Mequon, at 2 p.m. for Lori (nee Maier) Jan Steffen, 44, of Cedarburg, who passed away Jan. 3, 2013, during her second battle with breast cancer at Horizon Hospice at Columbia St. Maryís Ozaukee Campus. The service will be officiated by the Revs. Randy Frank and Barbara Jordan.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Lori was born in Milwaukee on May 1, 1968, was a 1986 graduate of Cedarburg High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Lori was united in marriage with Thad Steffen on Sept. 8, 1995, on a wedding cruise to the Island of Nassau in the Bahamas. They began their family in Bay View, and moved to Cedarburg in 2001. Lori and Thad shared a passion for all sports and played on coed volleyball teams throughout their marriage.

Lori lived and shared a life of love, light and laughter. Her passions were art and photography, and she worked most recently at Stadler Gallery in the Third Ward in Milwaukee. Lori adored her children and her time was spent nurturing and supporting all of their activities. She participated in the Parkview winter carnival, designing and building the "hallway game" for the past eight years.

She was a lover of nature, polar bears, fishing, swimming and all family gatherings.

Lori is survived by her devoted husband, Thad; and their three beautiful children, Erik, 15, Tyler, 12, and Abigail, 7. Lori is the beloved daughter of Jan Harmon and preceded in death by her father, Thomas Maier; the dear sister of Dave Maier (Barb), Ken Maier, Dan Maier (Sue), Terri (Bruce) Weber and Tim Maier (Donna); loving daughter-in-law of Stan (Nan) Steffen; sister-in-law of Bart (Irene) Steffen and Ann (Dewey) Wilbanks. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives. lovingly supported and beloved by Chuck Harmon, the Harmon family and so, so many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Edvest College Savings Plan for Loriís three children, which may be sent to N72 W7843 Harvest Lane, Cedarburg WI 53012.
