Sarah ‘Sally’ Degeneffe, 80

Sarah “Sally” Degeneffe (nee Wood), 80, passed away at the Samaritan Home on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Sally was born on March 7, 1932, in Menominee, Mich. to Eugene and Catherine (nee McMahon) Wood. She grew up on the family farm, Wood’s Orchard, in Peshtigo. She married John “Jack” Degeneffe on June 9, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Peshtigo.

Sally worked at the West Bend Company for 27 years and was a member of their 25 Year Club. She was an avid reader and “competitive shopper.” She was the greatest mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

Sally is survived by her children Kathy (Jim) Hefter, Bette (special friend Bill) Janz, Jacquie (Vern) Wiedmeyer, Barb (Jim) Sauer, Connie (Garry) Breuer, Mary (Mike) Karius, Nancy (Mark) Breuer, Judy (Bruce) Krueger, Cindy (Mark) Schellinger, Mike Degeneffe, Janet (Jim) Brugger, and Jenny (John) Schulteis; grandchildren Anne, Sue, Beth, Steve, Vicki, Matt, Paul, Mitch, Katie, Shelly, Sheri, Eric, Sara, Dana, Amy, Adam, Angie, Travis, Desi, Tracy, Emma, Ashley, Daniel, Ally, Pierce, Abby, Taylor; and 26 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings Gertrude (Bob) Rossi and Florence Engeldinger, and in-laws Rachel (Dan) Kuharski, Jerry (Annette) Degeneffe, Joe (Lynne) Degeneffe, Steve (Josie) Degeneffe, and Mark Peeters; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Sally is preceded in death by her husband Jack; grandson Andy; parents Eugene and Catherine Wood; parents- in-law Joe and Viola Degeneffe; stepfather-in-law Tony Ganter; siblings Lawrence (Donna) Wood, Francis Wood, Robert (Lois) Wood; and in-laws Mary Ellen Peeters, Joann Niesen, and Roger Degeneffe.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sally will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 200 E. Washington St., in Slinger with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9-10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. Interment will take place at Oconto Catholic Cemetery at a later time.
