Lee J. Schmidt, 73, of Rogers, Ariz., formerly of West Bend, passed away at his home Feb. 25, 2013.

Preceded in death by his father and mother, Leander and Melanie (nee Wolf) Schmidt, sister Mary Lee Vetting, brother Jerome Schmidt, sister-in-law Judy Schmidt, nephew John Schmidt and step-brother Mark Wollner.

Survived by daughter Nanlee Delwiche (James), Brookfield; sons Andy Schmidt (David Langemo), Minneapolis, and Boyd Allen, Boston; granddaughters Kathryn and Anna Delwiche, Brookfield; brothers Curtis Schmidt, Kenneth (Joyce) Schmidt of West Bend, and Robert (Jane) Schmidt of Richmond, Va.; brother-inlaw Jerome (Patricia) Vetting, Manitowoc; and stepmother Catherine Schmidt of West Bend. Further survived by many friends, nieces, nephews, stepbrother Steve Wollner and stepsister Cathy Noyes.

Lee received his bachelorís degree from Michigan State University in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1962. After college, he worked in several university food service facilities from Beloit College in Wisconsin to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., and Iowa State University in Des Moines before returning to West Bend where he grew up. At that time, he opened Lee Schmidtís Moraine Supper Club. He later owned and operated Village Inn Pancake Houses in Iowa and Arkansas prior to his retirement.

He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his alma mater, Michigan State football and basketball programs, along with Green Bay Packers football and Milwaukee Brewers baseball.

Memorial services were held in Rogers, Ariz., on March 11.
