Dolores F. Held, 93

Dolores F. Held (nee Gundrum), 93, loving wife of Jerome (Shorty) A. Held, passed on to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Dolores was born on Feb. 4, 1920, and married Jerome on Nov. 15, 1941. They were blessed to have celebrated 72 years of marriage.

She is survived by Jerome; her eight children, Beth (John) Bacik, Mary (Ed) Reidell, Sr. Margaret Held, Jean (Andy) Knoll, Sue (Joe) Zuern, Jim (Mary) Held, Annette (Peter Schulz) Held, and Tony (Karen) Held; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Flornie (Joe) Schaefer, Mickey Bergin, Kenny (Joann) Gundrum and Grace (Dick) Jungers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Gundrum, parents- in-law, two brothers and one sister, and other family and friends.

Dolores, was born and raised her family in Slinger, resided in Hartford and lived at Cedar Bay East in West Bend until she entered Cedar Community Hospice. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother who always put her family first. She loved to garden, producing beautiful and bountiful flowers and vegetables, cooked and baked delicious food, sewed clothing for her children, and taught many how to love and appreciate all of these. Dolores was district food manager for the Slinger School District from 1975-1984. She was a member of St. Peterís Parish, Christian Motherís Society past president and was involved in various parish activities. She was also a member of the Coney River HCE (formerly Homemakerís Club) for many years. Dolores and Shorty moved to Cedar Bay East after years of happy retirement. After a long period of suffering and disability, she will be remembered for her gracious and loving spirit.

Visitation will be at St. Peterís Catholic Church (200 E. Washington St., Slinger) on Friday, April 5 from 4-6:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding. A private inurnment will take place at St. Peterís Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the School Sisters of St. Francis, 1501 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53215, and St. Peterís Parish, Slinger.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Cedar Community Assisted Living and Hospice caretakers, Dr. Patty Liethen, her nurse, Debbie and staff, Dr. Jerome Buboltz, Hartford Memorial Hospital staff, St. Peterís Parish community, and the many others who have touched her life.
