Donald P. Schulteis, 88

Donald “Buddy” P. Schulteis, 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Buddy was born on Jan. 18, 1925, in Germantown to Clarence and Antoinette (nee Schneider) Schulteis. He married Doris Beck on April 19, 1952, at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Hubertus. Buddy was a longtime member of the Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486 in Jackson and the Jackson Seniors. He was also a member of St. Hubert’s/St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church for 75 years.

Buddy enjoyed gardening and was an avid sheepshead player. Buddy loved to travel and take long road trips. He will be dearly missed for his quirky and loveable sense of humor.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; and grandchildren Shelley (Eric) Rufener and Tracey Schulteis. He is further survived by his great-granddaughter Abby Rufener; sisters Dolores (the late Harold) Stafford, Jeannette (the late Marvin) Kreuser, Joanne (Gerald) Baumgartner, and Darlene (Richard) Lucka; sister-in-law Elaine (the late Orville) Beck; special neighbors the Morgan family; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Buddy was preceded in death by son Donald in 1999, his parents Clarence and Antoinette, brother Dennis “Mick” Schulteis, and sister-in-law Esther (Fred) Kempfert. A Mass of Christian Burial for Buddy will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 200 E. Washington St. in Slinger with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 4-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013, with a military walkthrough at 6:30 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, at St. Hubert’s Catholic Cemetery with full military honors to bring Buddy to his final place of rest.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Muhammad Mian, his nurse Jeannine Weyker, and the Chestnut Unit at Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation for their care and compassion for Buddy. The family would also like to thank Buddy’s niece, Lisa, for all of her time, care and dedication to Buddy throughout this time.
