Maria Teresa Sanchez de González, 94

Maria Teresa Sanchez de González was born July 31, 1918, to the union of Felicitas and Francisco Sanchez in Lamadrid, Coahuila, Mexico. Maria Teresa was educated and spent her childhood in Cuidad Acuña, Mexico.

Maria Teresa was briefly married to Juan Dueñas and they were blessed with a beautiful little girl, Lupe! She later married Ismael E. González in June of 1960 in Torréon, Mexico. Maria Teresa and her family eventually moved to the United States, residing in Illinois. She was excited to come to America and became a U.S. citizen in 1999.

Maria Teresa was employed by La Mutualidad Agricola in the accounting department for a number of years. In her leisure, she enjoyed playing the cello, breeding canaries and Pekingese dogs. Maria Teresa was very fond of birds and especially liked cats. She excelled at embroidery, knitting, crocheting, baking, drawing and spoiling Lupe!

Maria Teresa loved the Lord greatly and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. She continued to serve Him faithfully until He called her home. Maria Teresa Sanchez de González departed this life on April 21, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ismael E. González; her brothers, Napoleon, Eleazar and Francisco; her sister, Lupe; and her loving parents, Felicitas and Francisco. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter, Lupe Dueñas; nephews, Francisco (Ana) Sanchez, Hector (Lourdes) Sanchez and Jose Manuel (Lupe) Sanchez; nieces, Hermila (Jose) Sanchez de Villarreal and Rosie (Elpidio) Rodriguez; along with many friends and her “family” of caregivers at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg.

I’d like to express my most sincere gratitude to all my friends, neighbors, the Hispanic Fellowship and the Woman to Woman Team. I will also always be grateful to my mom’s “family” of caregivers at Lasata Care Center for the care and love they gave my mom during her years at Lasata.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today, May 2, 2013, at Eastbrook Church, 5385 N Green Bay Ave., Milwaukee. Maria Teresa's daughter will greet attendees from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be gratefully received in Maria Teresa’s name by Advocates of Ozaukee, “working to end domestic violence and sexual abuse,” P.O. Box 80166, Saukville, WI 53080.
