Carol Ann Edelblute, 70

Carol Ann Edelblute (née Wolf), 70, of Hartford, was born to eternal life on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. She was born Nov. 12, 1942, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Wilmer and Genevieve (nee Hickey) Wolf, and was raised in Kiel.

Carol was actively involved in various musical ensembles while enrolled at Alverno College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in liturgical music and education in 1965. A “favorite thing” about her college experience was working for two summers at the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt. She also completed a summer program at the University of Salzburg in Austria.

Carol began her teaching career at St. Dominic’s in Brookfield, then in Fox Point-Bayside. In 1972, she married the love of her life, John W. Edelblute III and became mother to John W. Edelblute IV on Sept. 23. Carol and John moved to Hartford in the spring of 1973, where they raised their six children, John (Sandy), Allison (Brendan), Ann, Eric, Jill and Susan in the home they loved on beautiful Druid Lake. She enjoyed being a grandma to Liam and Declan O’Neill.

Carol became the music teacher at Neosho Elementary School in 1984, beginning numerous initiatives including the Neosho band program and participation in the solos and ensembles competition. She also supported numerous musical programs and performances at area schools including Hartford Union High School. She then earned a Master’s of Arts degree in teacher leadership in 1997 from Silver Lake College. She served as a music minister at various parishes since the age of 13, most recently at St. Mary of the Hill Parish for nearly 20 years. Carol was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, unwavering faith, easy laugh and a gift for talking to just about anyone. She collected mementos of all musical, symphonic and theatrical performances she conducted, attended or supported. She loved to watch old movies and spend time with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband John W. Edelblute III, her children, John (Sandy), Allison (Brendan) O’Neill, Ann, Eric, Jill and Susan, and her grandsons Liam and Declan O’Neill.
