Edward A. Rappold, 93

A funeral service will be held today, Aug, 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. for Edward A. Rappold at Faith Lutheran Church, in Cedarburg. The visitation will be held today at the church from noon until 1:45 p.m. The Rev. Dale Erickson will be officiating the funeral service. Interment will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at 9 a.m. at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Ed passed away in Mahtomedi, Minn., on July 31, 2013, at the age of 93.

Ed was born on Oct. 5 1919, in Milwaukee, the son of Edgar Rappold and Elsie (nee Krantz) Rappold. He was later united in marriage to Alda Rappold on Aug. 2, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Cedarburg. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Gail and Lynn.

In May of 1944, Ed was inducted to the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country until March of 1946.

Ed was very active throughout the Cedarburg community. He was a charter member at Faith Lutheran Church, he served on the city council for many years, he was a member of the Rose Harms American Legion Post 288, and he was also a member of the Cedarburg Fire Department for more than 65 years.

Ed is survived by his wife, Alda Rappold; daughters, Gail Hoffman and Lynn (Roger) Hamblin; grandchildren, Daniel (Kim) Hoffman, Stephen Hoffman, Megan (Jeff) Pothen, and Jeremy (Christy) Hamblin; great-grandchildren, Austin, Zoey, and Dylan Hoffman, and Grant Hamblin; and siblings, Kenneth (Renata) Rappold and Audrey (Donald) Seifert. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Michael Hoffman; and brother, Harold Rappold.
