Shirley E. Wegner, 90

Shirley E. Wegner, 90, of the town of Corning, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home.

Shirley was born May 12, 1923 in Cedarburg, the daughter of the late Hugo and Ella Groth. She married William Wegner on Aug. 27, 1955 in Cedarburg. Shirley and Bill eventually moved to the town of Corning in Lincoln County, and purchased the family farm. Shirley was a homemaker and raised her twin children. She also helped with the farm by raising calves and working in the fields. Shirley also did seasonal work at the cranberry marsh and made Christmas wreaths. Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Berlin. She enjoyed bird watching, flower and vegetable gardening, canning, baking and needlepoint. In her younger days, she enjoyed fishing and traveling. Shirley loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Wegner, of the town of Corning; one daughter, Sheila (Jeff) Brummond of Wausau; one son, Scott (Laurie) Wegner, of the town of Corning; two grandchildren, Melissa (Scott) Baumann, of the town of Pine River; and Jordan Brummond of Wausau; two great-grandchildren, Oliva and Gabriella Baumann; and one sister, Mabel Schreiber, of West Bend.
