Alice J. Hurula, 78

Alice J. Hurula of Hartford was born to eternal life Sept. 9, 2013, with her husband of 57 years at her side. She was born to Joseph P. and Catherine Bielec Perdeus in New Kensington, Pa., on June 26, 1935, along with her twin sister Betty Lou, who died in infancy.

Devoted wife, extraordinary mother and loving grandma and great-grandma, Alice will be deeply missed by her husband Edward, children Barbara, Judy (Matt), Mike (Donna), Janet (Danny) and Steve (Silia); her nine grandchildren and three great-grandsons. She is also survived by her beloved sister Evelyn and sisters-in-law Jane, Dorothy and Honey — all of Pennsylvania; and her in-laws from Ed’s family, Marie (Fred) Martin, Jack (Ada), John (Sheryl), Martha (Jim) Rhoades and Jim Hurula, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including her “swimming buddies.” Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers John, Frank and Stanley, and sisters Victoria, Bernice, Antoinette and Betty Lou. Life was full of ups and downs, but she faced challenges with courage and a demonstrated faith. “We will always remember her beautiful big smile.” A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford for their exemplary care in her final days.

Visitation 3-5:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford with a Mass of Resurrection at 6 p.m. The Rev. David LaPlante will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the St. Kilian Education Endowment Fund, 428 Forest St., Hartford WI 53027.

“We thank God for the blessing that she was in our lives!”

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.
