Bettina M. Howe, 93

Bettina M. Howe (nee Easson), 93, of Hartford, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at The Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born May 10, 1920, in Brisbane, Australia to Andrew and Winifred (nee Smith) Easson. She married Alfred (Earl) Howe on July 15, 1944, in Australia while he was serving with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II.

Bettina loved baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading and “Dancing with the Stars.” She was a former member of the Hartford Senior Friends and enjoyed being a part of the Kitchenaire’s Band.

Bettina is survived by her children; Warren (Bonnie) Howe of Star Prairie, Wis., Wendy (Peter) Hauser of Hartford, Linda (Lloyd) Behling of Mayville and Brenda (Dave) Kannenberg of Hartford, her grandchildren; Jason Howe, Sherry Howe, Matt (Chrissie)Howe, Laura Howe, Ryan Doll, Adam Doll, Jenna Kannenberg, Kevin Kannenberg, Kelsey Kannenberg, Lucas Kannenberg, great grandson Calvin Howe, her sisters-in-law Heather Easson of Brisbane, Australia and Helen Howe (Otis) of St. Paul, and “No. 4” Karen (Ron) Konopka of Clinton Township, Mich. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred (Earl) Howe and her brother, Kenneth Easson.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Joe Pfotenhauer for the compassionate care given to Bettina over the years as well as the staff at Deerview Meadows.

A memorial service for Bettina will be held Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford), with the Rev. Paul Johnsen officiating. Visitation for family and friends will precede the service, from 4-7 p.m.

Memorials to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or The Highground Veterans Memorial in Neillsville appreciated.
