Donald Zimmermann, 87

Donald “Mutz” Lester Zimmermann, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. He was born on Aug. 2, 1926, in Milwaukee to the late Henry and Wanda Katherina Wilhemenia (nee Baumann).

He worked as a carpenter for Gable Roof School, Nordale Reality, Harris K Evans-Harnishfiger Homes and Century Estates, Bayside. He also built 30 homes at 57th and Silver Spring, Milwaukee. He was the founder of D&H Builders Inc. in 1957, also Don Zimmermann Crane Service Inc., Sandy Point Resort, NorDon Mason Construction Inc., Thick and Thin Lumber Company, Sawmill Inn Restaurant and Zimmermann’s Kettle Hills Golf Course, Ltd. He was involved in many community functions beginning in 1961 to include Germantown State Bank, Marine Bank, Germantown Rotary, Germantown Senior Center, Germantown High School Building Committee, Richfield Business Association, Germantown Chamber of Commerce, Paul Harris Fellow, Trinity Freistadt Parsonage and Trinity Freistadt Cemetery Committee.

Mutz is survived by his wife, Ruby Ann (nee Purgett); children, Brian (Janeen), Dwight (Linda), Michele (Ray) and Scott (Barbara); grandchildren, Jason (Cindy), Andria (Larry), Emily (Aaron), Hannah (Charles), Molly (Mike), Luke and Adam; great-grandchildren, Jack, Sydney, Norah, Oscar, Ashton, Harper, Logan and Lily; and siblings-in-law, Eugene (Katie), Mahlon (Margie), Janet (Otto) and Diane (John). He is further survived by other relatives, many dear friends and best friend, Harold Leist.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (10729 W. Freistadt Road, Mequon, WI 53097) with the Rev. Carl Lehenbauer presiding. The visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Interment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity of Freistadt — Organ Repair Fund or Cedar Community Foundation (113 Cedar Ridge Drive, West Bend, WI 53095).
