George W. Brugger, 81

George “Bud” W. Brugger, 81, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Ivy Manor of West Bend. He was born on June 21, 1932, to George M. and Olive (nee Schneider). He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. Bud married Rose (nee Marx) on May 12, 1956. He retired as a patrol superintendent from the Washington County Highway Department.

George was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.

His favorite place on earth was the town of Barnes in Bayfield County where he hunted deer for 65 years and spent 14 summers before he suffered a stroke. He thought Barnes might be as close to heaven as he’d ever get! Bud enjoyed playing golf — not well, but he had fun! He enjoyed spending time with family and friends both in West Bend and Barnes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; cherished children, Bill (Karen) of Slinger, Tom (Sheryl) of Kewaskum, Jack (Kathy) of Slinger, Jill (Gerald) Dhein of West Bend, and Jim (Janet) of West Bend; and many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings, Bernice Breuer of West Bend; brother-in-law Joe Altschaefl of West Bend, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Bud is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; sister, Ruth Altschaefl; and brother- in-law Walter Breuer.

A Mass of Christian Burial for George will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. Eighth Ave. in West Bend with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. and will continue at church on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, from 10-10:45 a.m.
