Ralph V. Manthey, 95


Ralph V. Manthey, “Bud,” 95, of Slinger, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Aurora Summit Medical Center, Oconomowoc.

He was born July 11, 1918, in Cambria, to Minnie (nee Sexton) and Verle Manthey, and raised by his stepfather, Perry Sexton. He married Ruth F. Butler on June 12, 1973, in West Bend.

Ralph’s labor of love was taping for Washington County Public Broadcasting Station, TV and radio. He was looking forward to taping the Washington County Humane Society’s Festival of Trees on Dec. 5, 2013. In earlier years, Ralph worked for Globe Union/Johnson Controls and Sprague Electric.

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Manthey of Slinger; loving daughter, Jayne Doucette of Germantown; stepchildren, Joyce Connors of Sussex, Judith (Arthur) Smith of West Bend, Anne (Richard) Endres of Menomonee Falls and Glenn (Karen) Korntved of Cottage Grove; cherished grandsons, Perry, Jeff and Dan (Jen) Bartkowiak; and five great-grandchildren, Branden, Brittany, Brady, Konnor and Alexis Bartkowiak; and brother-in-law, Joseph (Trudy) Butler. He is further survived by many other dear relatives and friends.

A memorial gathering for Ralph will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford). The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
