John J. Licht Jr., 64
John J. Licht Jr., a resident of Las Vegas and formerly of Cedarburg, passed
away peacefully Nov. 5, 2013, following a valiant battle with cancer. He was
64 years old. John was born in Cedarburg on Jan. 17, 1949, the son of John
J. and Lucille Hildebrandt Licht. He attended local schools and graduated
from Cedarburg High School with the class of 1967. John proudly served in
the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 22, 1989, he was
united in marriage with Kathleen Braatz in Cedarburg. The couple later moved
to Las Vegas in 1997. John had many accomplishments in his lifetime: he was
a member of the American Legion, a Boy Scout leader and a volunteer coach
for youth sports. John also volunteered his time by maintaining several
local parks in Las Vegas. John worked as a union sheet metal worker in both
Wisconsin and Nevada for 42 years, retiring in 2011. He was well-liked and
respected by his union brothers. John is survived by his wife of 24 years,
Kathleen; their three children, Justyn Licht of Medford, Jonathan Licht of
Las Vegas and Stewart Goforth of Hartford; and two grandsons, Dacien Licht
of Las Vegas and Nolan Goforth of Hartford. He is further survived by his
mother, Lucille Licht of Cedarburg; sisters, Jacqueline Lewaren of Green Bay
and Jennifer (Robert) Callies of Saukville; and brother, James J. Licht of
Cedarburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Licht Sr.
A memorial in Johnís name will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Eernisse
Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. The family will receive
visitors from 10 a.m. to noon. Military honors will be provided by the
American Legion at noon.
