Elayne M. Chovanec, 88, of Grafton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.
She was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Two Rivers, the daughter of William and Mary Hallada Luchterhand. In 1947, Elayne graduated from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee. On April 12, 1947, she married Frank Chovanec at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee, where they raised their family. In 2002, they moved to Grafton.
Elayne was a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, where she enjoyed Bible study. She was also a member of Aglow, an international Christian organization for women.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; her son, Larry (Jane) of Grafton; daughter, Diane Brayshaw of Grafton; son-in-law, Michael Canty of Two Rivers; four grandchildren, Aaron (Karen), Benjamin, Nathan and Jared; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Alan (Darlene) Luchterhand of Two Rivers; her sister, Judy (Dick) Hempfner of Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Marylee and sister Ruth.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated. Elayne was a faithful servant of her Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
