Gordon P. Stowers,
Gordon P. Stowers was born on March 16, 1939, in Butler, the son of the late Charles Stowers and the late Viola (nee Woppert) Stowers. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1957, and later attended the Layton School of the Arts.
Gordon was a longtime active resident in the town of West Bend, serving as the West Bend town chairman for many years, as well as county supervisor. He was a part-time policeman in West Bend and worked as a deputy for the Washington County Sherriff’s Department.
Gordon was also employed by WE Energies for over 34 years, working as an engineer until his retirement. Gordon was a very dedicated man to his employer as well as his community.
In his down time, Gordon enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed making his “homemade” wine.
Gordon was united in marriage to Carole (nee Froemming) Ruloff, on Jan. 2, 1994, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Grafton. After they wed, Gordon moved to Grafton, where he and Carole have resided for the past 20 years.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Carole Stowers; stepdaughters, Christine Barthel and Cathleen (Steven) Walters; and sisters, Charlotte (Leroy) Kahlscheuer and Blanche (the late Earl) Dreher. He is further survived by three children, six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Phillip Stowers.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Gordon passed away on Dec. 17, 2013, at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Campus, at the age of 74 years.
