Billie Dawn Ritter
Billie Dawn Ritter Massaro passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2013, at
her home in Canton, Mich., after a stunningly brave and graceful battle
with lung cancer.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1930, in Cedarburg, was a 1948 Cedarburg High
School graduate and salutatorian and a 1951 Marquette University
graduate. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 63 years,
Anthony P. Massaro; loving children, Brian Pat (Linda Lee Wittstock, d.
2012) , Bruce Michael (Bette Blaisdell Massaro), Toni Marie (Genevieve
Leavitt), Mona Mary and Gina Maria Massaro Schremser (Frank Schremser);
beautiful granddaughters, Ann, Sarah (David De Vine), Elizabeth, Julia,
Catherine, Kathleen, and Mary; great-grandchildren, Francis Patrick,
Elizabeth, and Peter; sisters, Susan Ritter Mueller (James, d. 1999) and
Sally Ritter Mueller (Tom); Mueller nephews and nieces; sister-in-law,
Sue Thomas; and extended Massaro family.
Billie was an ardent Christian, a Stephens Minister, an award winning
realtor, a caring dental hygienist, a devoted Red Hat member, and a
woman who loved family, travel, nature, winters in Florida, autumns in
Michigan, Christmas lights, brandy and bitters, card club, choir, golf,
Mahjong, home cooking, dancing, well-sung hymns, Loretta Lynn, lilies of
the valley, good friends, and a good bargain. Above all, she loved
Anthony, who literally cannot imagine this world without her. Billie was
incredibly smart, beautiful, loyal, community and faith-committed,
organized, generous, fun loving, courageous and incapable of falsehoods
of any kind. We will miss her big blue eyes forever.
She chose not to have a public memorial service, but her family would be
very grateful if you shared your favorite Billie memory. We will gather
these into a Book of Billie to celebrate her life and to keep her close.
Your Billie memories may be sent to 4878 Napier Road, Canton, MI 48187
or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In lieu of flowers, Billie would be honored by gifts to the Anthony P. and
Billie D. Massaro Scholarship Fund, CCSF, P.O. Box 654, Cedarburg, WI
www.ccsf.info, or Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone N.C.
She will be interred in Zur Ruhe Cemetery at a later date, in Cedarburg.
May the good Lord bless her and keep her. We thank God she was born.
