William A. L.
William A. L. “Bill” Schmidt, 82, of the town of Kewaskum, passed away
on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home. He was born on Feb. 14, 1931,
in the town of Kewaskum, the son of the late Arnold and Eleanore (Doms)
Schmidt, and on June 13, 1953, he married Patricia Elwing.
On May 14, 1977, he was united in marriage to Marcella (nee Oppermann)
Moffatt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend. Marcella preceded
Bill in death on June 25, 2007.
Bill proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
He will be fondly remembered as an avid gardener who canned and froze
produce from his garden. Bill also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Those Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory include two children,
Allen (Barbara) Schmidt of the town of Auburn and Patty (Roger) Schmidt
of Eau Claire; a stepson, Robert (Rosemary) Moffatt of West Bend; two
stepdaughters, Sandra (Paul) Radmer of Richfield and Darlene (Wayne)
Wagner of Fillmore; two brothers, Roger (Pat) Schmidt of Shawano and
Arthur (Donna) Schmidt of West Bend; a sister, Virginia Oppermann of
Kewaskum, 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, other relatives
In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by a
son, William “Bill” Schmidt on May 31, 1997, and a brother-in-law, Ruben
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4,
2014, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum with the Rev. Russ Knoth
officiating. Military honor rites by members of the Robert G. Romaine
American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum will follow the service and burial
will be in Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.
The Schmidt family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the
funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
