Marcella F. Hembel,
86
Marcella F. Hembel of West Bend died on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at her
home at the age of 86. She was born in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and
Aloisia (nee Reitmeier) Goeppert. She was proud to graduate from West
Bend High School in 1944. On Oct. 26, 1946, she married Carroll M.
Hembel at the former Peace Church in the town of Jackson.
Marcella was a hard worker who worked with Carroll on the family dairy
farm in the town of Polk. Her favorite saying was, “Let’s hurry up and
get it done, so I don’t have to think about it anymore.” She also worked
at the West Bend Company during World War II. Following their retirement
from dairy farming in 1978, she continued housekeeping and tending to
her many flowers.
She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, baking, needlepointing,
flower gardening, big band music, dancing, playing Sheepshead, and
visiting with family and friends.
She was a member of the Jackson Senior Club, Kettle Moraine Model T and
Vintage Car Club and New Hope UCC church.
Survivors include two children, Jeanne Linnemanstons of Thiensville and
Joel Hembel (Bob Egbert) of Oconomowoc; her number one granddaughter
Rebecca Linnemanstons; two sisters, Lucille (Vincent) Brunner and Mary
Rady; one brother, Tom Goeppert; sister-inlaw Alice Hembel; other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll, in 2005, a son, Mark,
in 1955 and a son, Jeffrey, in 2007.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. at New Hope
United Church of Christ, 4360 Jackson Drive, Jackson, with the Rev.
James Hill officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation
will be at the church on Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m.
The family has requested memorials to The Kathy Hospice of West Bend or
the charity of the donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.
Marcella’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the
friendly staff at The Lighthouse of West Bend, Dr. Jahnke, Dr. Vukelich,
and to all her dear friends and family who kept her in their thoughts
and prayers.
