Andrew “Andy” Weninger Jr., 81, of Lac Du Flambeau, passed away Feb. 14, 2013 at his residence.
Andy was born on Feb. 1, 1932 to Andrew and Mary (nee Schmidt) Weninger. He worked on the family farm in Nabob and graduated from West Bend High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he worked for the Milwaukee Fire Department for 30 years and then retired to his new home in Squaw Lake near Lac Du Flambeau.
During his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, downhill skiing in the western states and golfing in his later years. Andy also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Andy is survived by his sisters; Margaret (Franklin) Bales and Marian Vogt, sister-in-law Ethel Weninger, 25 nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe, brother- in-law Denis Vogt, and three nephews Nick Vogt, Paul Bales and Allan Weninger.
A funeral service for Andy will be at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding. Interment will take place at St. Mathias Cemetery Nabob. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 4 p.m. until time of service (5:45 p.m.).
