Joseph “Joe” R. Mrozek, 88, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013. He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 19, 1924 to the Joseph and Lillian Mrozek (nee Odebralski). He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then worked for Milwaukee County Transit. He was the past commander of VFW Post 9531. Joe enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Townsend.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris (nee McCarthy); devoted father of Judith Podany and Mark Mrozek; awesome grandpa of Staci and Kelsey Podany, and Katrina Mrozek; and cherished brother of Dorothy Treat. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Wesley Podany; and daughter- in-law, Loretta Mrozek.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (1025 S. Seventh Ave., West Bend) with the Rev. Nathan Reesman presiding. The visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a,n, with Military Honors immediately following the Mass. Private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Community or Kathy Hospice.
