Pat Griffin, 60
Pat
Griffin passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Feb. 18,
2013. He was born Feb. 16, 1953. Pat was a lifelong resident of West
Bend. He graduated from Notre Dame with high honors in 1975 and after
graduating as an academic scholar from Marquette Law School, he began
practicing law and continued in the profession he loved until the day he
passed away.
Pat was a member of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers, the
Washington County Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers
Association and a past member of the West Bend Noon Rotary Club.
Pat was proud of his Irish heritage. He carried everything meaningful to
him close to his heart. He was a huge fan of both Notre Dame and
Marquette. It was suspected that he bled blue and gold.
Pat met the love of his life, Lin Furger, in 1986. They married in 1990
and had two sons. Pat took great pride in the accomplishment,
intelligence and most of all the character of his teenage boys, Jim and
Cole.
Pat was the devoted son of Norbert “Coley” and Ann (nee Snyder) Griffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Pat also lost his dear brothers
and best friends Kevin and Mike Griffin too early in life. Their loss
took a great toll on him. The family finds peace in the thought of them
all being reunited. Pat had just celebrated his 60th birthday with his
family. Pat was known for his generosity. They will cherish their final
day together as a family and be grateful for that last gift.
Pat is survived by his wife Linda “Lin” and their sons Cole and Jim. He
is further survived by sisters Mary (Stuart) Carlson of Milwaukee and
Megan (Mike) Welsh of Oconomowoc; sister-in-law Nancy (Jerry) Mehring of
West Bend; brother-in-law Gary (Peggy) Furger; and many nieces and
nephews, his pup Sadie, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and brothers, he was preceded in death by his
parentsin- law Edward and Kathryn Furger and brother-in-law Jimmy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m.
at Holy Angels Catholic Church with a reception to follow. The family
will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the
church only on Thursday from 2-4:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for a college tuition account for Pat’s
sons would be appreciated.
The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family. Online
guestbook and condolences available at
www.schmidtfuneralhome.com.
