Theodore C. ‘Ted’ Egelhoff, 91
 

Theodore C. "Ted" Egelhoff, 91, of Mequon, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, in hospice care at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon.

He was born on Oct. 17, 1921, in rural upper Michigan to George and Mary (nee Hopp) Egelhoff. The family moved to Mequon in 1927, where Ted attended Holstein School and graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1939. Ted served in the Marine Corps during World War II and married Jayne Nalle in December 1943 in Santa Ana, Calif. Jayne passed away in May 1989.

Ted was the owner and operator of Egelhoff Tree Service with his brother David from 1945 until 2005. He was very active in civic affairs, elected one of the first aldermen in Mequon, served 33 years on the Mequon-Thiensville-School Board and served 27 years as an Ozaukee County supervisor. He was a member of the Thiensville-Mequon Rotary Club, where he was a renowned chef. Ted was a lifelong member and served as usher in the Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Thiensville.

He is survived by his children, Claudia Egelhoff of Minneapolis, Christine (Ed) Morgan of Sheboygan and Matthew (Karen) Egelhoff of Grafton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerry Egelhoff of Mequon; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

A funeral Mass in remembrance will be held on Jan. 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, Thiensville, followed by a reception onsite.

The Egelhoff family thanks staff of Home Instead, Horizon Hospice, and Cedar Mills Clinic for their care of Ted.
