Dorothy E. Friess, 88
Dorothy E. Friess (nee Hembel), 88, of the town of Polk died Sunday,
Jan. 13, 2013, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. She was
born April 13, 1924, in the town of Polk to the late Oscar and
Bertha (nee Ganns) Hembel and married Roman W. Friess on Sept. 9,
1944 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger. Roman preceded her
in death on May 13, 1998.
Dorothy was employed at Rockfield Canning Company for eight years.
Together with her husband they owned and operated a dairy farm on
the Friess Homestead in the town of Polk for many years.
She provided loving and compassionate care to her family, friends
and neighbors. She always took care of others.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons: Mark (Colleen) of Jackson and
James (Vicki) of Jackson; five grandchildren: Heather (Wendy Diehl)
Friess, Stephanie (Rob) McLeod, Jeremy Friess, Amanda (Dylan) Hauck
and Ryan Friess; and four great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Olivia, Elie
and Sophia. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Bertha Hembel,
her husband Roman, a son in infancy, her great-granddaughter Mayah,
her brother Leroy and her sister Lucille Peil.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at 9:50 a.m. at
the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger. The Rev.
Richard Stoffel will preside. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Old
Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, at the Schmidt Funeral Home
in Jackson from 4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 7:45 p.m. and also
Friday, at the funeral home from 9-9:50 a.m.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Samaritan Health Center
for always making sure Dorothy was well taken care of and going out
of their way to make sure she had a puzzle or word book in hand at
all times. We greatly appreciate all the compassionate care given to
Dorothy.
