Rosemary
K. Schalles, nee Kircher, 90, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Jan.
14, 2013, at Cedar Community.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1922, in West Bend to the late Joseph and
Gertrude (nee Mitter) Kircher. At a young age, Rosemary moved to New
London with her family. She graduated from New London High School in the
class of 1941. After graduation, Rosemary moved back to West Bend and
began working at Amity. On June 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to
Robert H. Schalles at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. While
raising her family, she worked as the bookkeeper for Robert Schalles
Masonry. Robert preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1992. Later on,
Rosemary helped with the bookwork for her son’s business, Schalles
Excavating, until 2004.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Women of the Moose, as
well as the Birthday Club at the Moose. Rosemary enjoyed summers on
Silver Lake.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert J. (Chris) Schalles of Gatlin,
Tenn., Thomas (Genevieve) Schalles of West Bend, and Daniel (Jean
Welzien) Schalles of West Bend; two grandchildren, Kathryn (James)
Battle and Patrick Schalles; sister-inlaw, Mary Bechwar of West Bend;
brother-in-law, John (Beth) Schalles of Toledo, Ohio; other relatives
and friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dr.
Paul Kircher; sister-in-law, Jean Kircher; and brother-in-law, Robert
Bechwar.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Rosemary will be held on
Thursday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N.
Eighth Ave., West Bend with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding.
Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until the
time of the service. Burial will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy
Angels Cemetery, West Bend Memorials to Holy Angels School Trust Fund or
the Threshold are appreciated by the family.
