Gerald V. Filo, 67|
“Jerry” V. Filo passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at
the age of 67 years. Jerry was born on April 26, 1945, in West Bend to
Paul and Irene (nee Proschinger) Filo. Jerry dedicated years of service
in the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam Era and belonged to
the LaPorte, Ind. VFW 1130. He met Helen “Lenee” on May 10, 1997, and
married her on May 10, 2000. Jerry was a former Lions Club member and
also a volunteer firefighter in Newburg.
Jerry is survived by his wife Lenee; children Mike (Jody) Filo of
Newburg, Cindy (Jamie) McDonald of Massachusetts, Chris (Rick) Gaspardo
of West Bend and their mother Carol Filo; stepdaughters Jennifer (Steve)
Larson of Indiana and Heather Gordon of California; and siblings Jim
(Sharon) Filo of West Bend, Judy (Dick) Behling of Cottage Grove and
Jane (Claudius) Adebayo of Illinois. He is further survived by his
grandchildren Brittany and Jake Filo, Ryan and Ellen McDonald, and Megan
and Tony Gaspardo; step -grandchildren Dominic and Carter Gordon, Wesley
Yeargain, and Jacob Larson; and best friend Al Gosewehr of Newburg.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and treasured granddaughter
Rebecca. He will also be dearly missed by his canine companion, Sally,
and feline companion, Straycat.
A funeral service for Jerry will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013,
at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of
service (1 p.m.). Interment will follow at St. Finbar Cemetery in the
town of Saukville.
Jerry was a kind, warm, and honorable man who loved life with his family
and especially sharing his little corner of the world, “his heaven on
earth,” with his adoring wife, Lenee.
